Here at AirStMaarten, we always believe one of the nicest trips you can book is what we like to call an AirCruise.
That is a multi-island trip between St. Maarten, Anguilla and St. Barths.
It is already the 5th of June and the second multi-island trip for the month so far is an aircruise from St. Maarten to Anguilla, then 4 days later from Anguilla to St. Barths where after 11 days it is back to St. Maarten from St. Barths to connect to the outbound flight back to the USA.
So here we have the perfect casestudy of an aircruise for you to consider as well.
We have a family of five (5) arriving on AA at 12:22pm and we have them booked on a scheduled flight from St. Maarten to Anguilla departing at 3:30pm, arriving 10 minutes later at 3:40pm. It is an 8-minutes flight actually, but who wants to be counting minutes when you are enjoying the spectacular views between the islands.
The flight is with a 9-seater twin-engine Britten-Norman Islander, usually operated by one pilot. We can operate a flight as a private charter and a second pilot can be had for an additional charge. The advantage of a private charter is that they would be able to depart much earlier than scheduled. They may yet opt for a private charter to avoid the 3 hour lay-over in St. Maarten after their arrival.
From Anguilla to St. Barths there is a scheduled flight departing at 8:30am. Also a BN Islander, which returns on the same route for a scheduled flight from St. Barths to Anguilla at 9:30am.
Now we always tell my clients that if you have 5 persons or more in your party, especially if they are all adults, it is economically feasible to book a private charter. So for an additional $100 US Dollars, this party of five persons, three adults and two kids, can book this Anguilla-St. Barths flight as a private charter and depart at their convenience. They have to check out of the hotel by 11am, so we can easily schedule the private charter to depart at 12pm or 1pm so that they can get to the airport and check in at their leisure. Why rush when you can take your time. You are on holidays after all.
The flight from Anguilla to St. Barths is just 15 minutes. Besides the awesome views, you are definitely in for a spectacular landing, no matter from which side you land at St. Barths Airport. If you are lucky, you will land from the eastern side. But the thrill is landing over the little hillock and nosediving down on to the St. Barths airport runway. We won’t mind if you get out and kiss the ground afterwards.
For the last leg of this aircruise from St. Barths to St. Maarten, you have the choice of flying on a budget flight, a commercial flight, a shared charter or a private charter. We offered our clients a budget flight departing at 1pm. The total packaged price is $2225 US Dollars, excluding 4% creditcard surcharge ($2314 USD including).
All-in all, that works out to be a mere $445 US Dollars per person. Not bad considering you are enjoying a vacation stay on two islands and passing through a third in both directions. That sounds like a perfect aircruise to us, don’t you agree?
